Raw Material Pellet Expander — Better Conditioning Before the Pellet Mill

Raw material pellet expander installed before the pellet mill. High-temperature short-time treatment improves starch gelatinisation, kills pathogens, raises PDI and reduces fines in demanding feed recipes.

Why Raw Material Pellet Expander

Expanding upstream of the pellet mill improves conditioning, PDI and throughput on difficult diets.

Higher Pellet Durability

Improved starch gelatinisation and fibre softening lift PDI and reduce fines.

Better Hygiene

High-temperature short-time treatment helps reduce salmonella and other pathogens.

Increased Pellet Mill Capacity

Pellet mill works on pre-expanded meal, often allowing higher throughput.

Flexible Expansion Level

Adjustable cone / resistance and steam addition for different recipes.

Robust Screw & Barrel

Heavy-duty wear parts for abrasive raw materials and 24/7 operation.

Retrofit Friendly

Can be fitted into existing conditioner–pellet mill lines with limited changes.

    FAQ

Where should the expander be installed?
Typically the expander sits between the last conditioner and the pellet mill. In some cases it replaces one conditioner. We will check your layout and advise the best position.
Will an expander always increase pellet mill capacity?
Most plants see higher capacity or lower kWh/t at the same capacity, but results depend on formula, operator settings and existing conditioning. We can discuss realistic expectations for your line.
    Is steam capacity critical?
Yes. The expander needs adequate steam to reach target temperature and moisture. We estimate steam demand and can suggest upgrades if your boiler is tight.
